Blue Jewel Ceilidh Band

Kip is the caller for the Blue Jewel Ceilidh Band, a seriously good and fun band for your ceilidh or barn dance in Devon and the South-West. We play at weddings, anniversaries, parties, and other functions, (within about a 70 mile radius of Totnes).

  • a fantastic selection of tunes from around Britain; and the odd dance/tune from more distant shores, e.g. Troyka – a brilliant, fun dance from Russia!
  • an expert and relaxed caller, Kip, who will get you strutting your stuff whatever age, and whatever your dancing experience.
  • great songs to entertain you between dances while you catch your breath!Steve Banks
  • We play as 4-piece: fiddle, guitar and bass, with…
  • … an expert caller to help you learn the steps easily…
  • … and make it all great fun, which is what dancing is all about!
  • we also play as a 3-piece (no bass), or a 5-piece (with bass and drums)

“Highly recommend Blue Jewel – they are a lively group and helped to make our wedding reception a fun and memorable one. When we first got in touch, Steve got back to us quickly and was very accommodating. The guys even learnt a couple of new songs to play as a medley for our first dance, with no fuss but great effort! 🙂 ”   – Mr & Mrs Alexander, June 2013

Mike Vickery“Blue Jewel were everything we had hoped for. They were lively with a big variety of music and dances. The caller was excellent and everybody had a really enjoyable evening! We would thoroughly recommend them! Thanks Steve you were great!”  – Chris Britton (Clearbrook Village Hall) , June 2013

“We decided on a ceilidh for our wedding reception; we thought it would give our day a great “party” feel. My husband is also Dutch and we wanted something that would suit everyone regardless of age, background and language. We definitely hit the jackpot with Blue Jewel – they did a fantastic ceilidh and the atmosphere was brilliant. We even had grandparents joining in the dancing! The instructions were clear and perfect for all language levels, and Blue Jewel was very fKip Prattlexible (we were running a little late) and had even looked up a Dutch song/dance especially for our wedding! We really enjoyed it and have had nothing but compliments about the band, music, and what a great idea the ceilidh was. I would definitely recommend!” – Mr and Mrs Vreugdenhil, May 2013
